Paper and paperboard Food Contact Materials
Food contact materials compliance is generally assessed using EN 645, EN 646 and EN 648 standards and AP guidelines, for heavy metals such as Lead, Cadmium, Chromium & Mercury, formaldehyde release, PAA and colorfastness
Materials and articles in contact with food must comply with the framework directive 1935/2004EC as amended before placing the items in UK/EU market
Currently, specific directive/regulation is not in place for paper and paperboard items such as napkins, straws, kitchen tissue paper etc, intended to come into contact with food.
