Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Aluminium Metallic Food Contact Materials/Items
Currently, there are no specific directive/regulations in place for metallic items such as stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium ware etc., intended to come into contact with food.
However, all materials and articles that will be in contact with food must comply with the framework council directive 1935/2004EC as amended before placing the items in UK/EU.
Specific metal release (expressed as specific migration limit/SML) using CM Resolution 2013 guidelines is generally performed for supporting compliance with council directive 1935/2004EC assessed against below SML:
