Northern Testhouse (Leicester) Ltd has been an independent laboratory in Leicester, specialising in safety testing for toys, children's products, and childcare articles, since 2003. Our testing services cater to importers, distributors, and manufacturers worldwide. 

 

With over 30 years of experience, we are a trustworthy, owner-led testing laboratory. Our focus is on ensuring children's safety by making toys and other items safe for their use. We also specialise in testing kitchenware and pen caps, with a strong emphasis on plastics, metals, and ceramics intended for food contact. 

 

At our testing laboratory, our team of experts first evaluates each product to determine the necessary tests for it to meet safety standards in the country where it will be sold. While we're unable to issue certifications for other countries, we can conduct the required testing and provide guidance in our reviews. This helps our clients verify whether their certification/reports will be granted before they apply. 

 

We conduct all testing on-site at our fully equipped and continually expanding laboratory. Our testing services are in compliance with various standards such as British Standards for the UK, EN71 for Europe, ASTM F963 for America, 10/2011(EU) for UK/Europe, and several REACH requirements. Additionally, for each product, we provide a comprehensive review and quality assurance service. 

 

At Northern Testhouse (Leicester) Ltd, we are committed to upholding the rigorous standards set by the toy industry, and we take our testing responsibilities very seriously. We hold ISO 17025 accreditation and CPSIA approval for ASTM F963 heavy metals and Total Lead Testing. We are also members of the British Toy and Hobby Association.
