Child Care Articles Standards BSEN14372, BSEN14350 Parts 1 and 2, BSEN12586

Child care standards apply to articles intended for children under 3 years of age.

The key requirements of the child care standards are:

  • Mechanical properties—ensuring small parts, sharp points and edges are not present
  • Strict labelling and markings in formats where specified
  • Performance requirements such as thermal shock, accuracy etc where specified
  • Toxicity requirements, as applicable,—migration of heavy metals, nickel release, banned phthalates, nitrosamines, volatile organic materials and AZO dyes
  • Plastic materials and articles in contact with food regulations, as applicable
  • Textile tests as applicable

 

BSEN 14350 Parts 1 and 2 – apply to drinking equipment
BSEN14372 – applies to cutlery and feeding utensils
BSEN 12586 – applies to soother holders

 

The Northern Testhouse (Leicester) is UKAS accredited for the migration of heavy metals testing. For providing greater confidence, we are able to test for additional elements specified in EN71 Part3:2013 covering current requirements for Lead, Cadmium, Chromium, Barium, Mercury, Antimony, Arsenic and Selenium only specified in above child care standards

 

With our expertise, experience and EN71 Part1 UKAS accreditation, we are able perform sharp points, sharp edges and small parts testing.
